Big cars for big butted girls? Too weird for me!
Taking Frank's opening salvo as the majority opinion on the subject of cars, I immediately rushed out and bought a very well kept 1990 VW TD (no I) Jetta with tons of new spare parts for $1600 cash.
The car has 237K miles but the engine has <100K miles. When the car burps, I intend to hook the engine to a Geo Tracker manual tranny (Acme Adapters, of course) and drop them into a Triumph Spitfire frame with a Locost body on it. Then I intend to burn a mix of used tranny fluid and veggie oil since no one is into tranny fluid so it's free.
But a question for VW owners, past or present: Reverse is springloaded, of course, but to get to first gear, I actually have to push just a little into the spring loading. Does anyone know if that spring can be adjusted to leave first gear just outside the loading? Any info will be gratefully appreciated.
