Everybody around here runs grill blocks in the winter. Chrome panels with small perforations are popular on shiny pickups, but cardboard or carpet don't raise eyebrows. I wrapped my bumper with two loops of rope, and insert a black Coroplast panel behind them. If my fan comes on, I slide it over a bit to let more air in. Some cars would work better with more panels and ropes for adjustments.
