Pulse and glide means you accelerate at an efficient pace, and once you hit a certain speed, you disengage and coast. That could be engine on (idling) or engine off coasting. Once you hit your lower speed limit, you accelerate again and coast again.

I am not a fan of engine off coasting for safety reasons...

But that's what pulse and glide means.
