Donkey, you should take your car by a local auto electrician. Drop it off quickly, throw him the keys, and say you have to get to work right away-will be back later that afternoon. Ask him if he can track down an electrical shortage you are having somewhere between your switch and your headlights.
His call back an hour later would, surely, make for a great laugh.
