Victor, The heavy duty blue connector between the charger and the battery has two functions. First the charger has four banks, it can charge four different smaller batteries at the same time, but in this case I need to connect all eight leads, 4 positive and 4 negative to this one battery. So I used the blue connector to combine the 4 + and 4- into one of each.

The connector also allows me to remove the charger from the car and use it for charging other batteries.

Donkey, you should take your car by a local auto electrician. Drop it off quickly, throw him the keys, and say you have to get to work right away-will be back later that afternoon. Ask him if he can track down an electrical shortage you are having somewhere between your switch and your headlights.

His call back an hour later would, surely, make for a great laugh.

Ha! OG, you are probably right!! Actually that's why I labeled most of the wires, even I can't remember what some of them are for.

I am also going to need a few permanent "cheat sheets" posted under the hood and in the "cockpit" to get the "pre-flight" procedures all done and in the correct order before takeoff!!!

According to the MPGuino I did 86 MPG going into the shop this morning (temp of 41 degrees), then it started raining and with a northeast headwind I was only able to do 79 MPG coming home (temp 47 degrees). I guess even with these mods I will still be subject to the variable winter weather. But there is no way I would have gotten close to these numbers without the pre-heat and alternator delete. I had to use the headlights both ways.

Rain slaughters the mpg of our small cars. I lost 5-10mpg coming home from a friend's shop last night in heavy rain, 86mpg going down there, only 58 coming back.

That, right there, is the excuse I'm going with for the dismal mileage I got in my round trip to Nashville. I had trouble getting 36 mpg and I was doing some drafting coming back. I miss summer mileage

I hear you Kafer, I am hoping to negate some of the winter MPG beat down with pre-heat and alternator delete. So far I an encouraged.

Congrats! Not that this was a competition in the least. However, found it funny that this thread pretty much "annihilated the competition", more than tripling the views of any other thread this year. Says a great deal for your project, work ethic, and (most importantly to this forum) willingness to share your knowledge.

Your OK with me Charlie Brown! And thank you EcoTex as well for starting this fire. One that will surely blaze the internet for years to come.
