Ha, by best car $/mile criteria I think an old VW Bug I had is a contender for my top spot. Got the carcass for free, got the engine for free, put it all together for less than $80 including seat covers, drove it for a few years in college, also did my rural delivery route with it so MADE money at times, then sold it for $300.
