Ha, by best car $/mile criteria I think an old VW Bug I had is a contender for my top spot. Got the carcass for free, got the engine for free, put it all together for less than $80 including seat covers, drove it for a few years in college, also did my rural delivery route with it so MADE money at times, then sold it for $300.

Lots of oil and filters.
Battery.
Two right side wheel bearings.
Exhaust header.
One fog light bulb.
A set of front brake disks (I think?) and brake pads, and rear brake shoes.
Three sets of regular tires and two sets of winter tires.
Still original clutch.
Has a timing chain.
Original suspension.
No rust.

I normally sell or trade vehicles that start to wear out and have multiple problems.

Frank_Lee you might dig this - I used to have a '55 Chev 150 2 door post. It had a rotted frame. The car itself was nothing great, but in my search for a replacement frame, I found a 35000 original mile frame, still sitting on the original 15x5 steel wheels in the original color with the weird little tin inserts that went in the vents on the steel wheels to keep rocks from getting stuck in them. The tires are all '50s/early '60s too. I was told that it was part of a rust free garage find around here, and the guy that bought the car instantly ordered an aftermarket Art Morrison type frame for the car, and sold the original frame with the original 6 cylinder in it to the guy I got the frame from. He just bought it to get the 6 cylinder. The same guy I got the frame from had a legit '32 Ford coupe in his garage that he and his dad had built in the late '70s, complete with pinstriping and all. It's pretty cool what you can find when you are chasing down old car parts! I got the rolling frame complete for $200 as the guy just wanted it out of his yard. I ended up selling the '55 but kept the frame, it was too cool to part with! Worst case I can make a *****in' go kart out of it haha

No sadly, that car got sold to someone with, er, shall we say, "too much money". He spent $65k on it in 5 weeks getting it ready for a car show. Tubbed, 8 point roll cage, big block with dual 4 barrels on a tunnel ram, etc. But I will hold onto that frame like grim death! The '55 I have been stalking lately has been in the same family for 30 years, but ironically it doesn't need a frame!

My Focus is relatively original. It has a new passenger side motor mount, polyurethane dogbone transmission mount and I added a rear swaybar from a 2003 Focus Wagon.
My Jeep has lots of new parts. Biggest would be -
- Lift Springs front and rear
- Front axle out of a 99 Cherokee (it's a 2000)
- Soon to be rear axle out of a 98 Cherokee
- 1995 Grand Cherokee V8 front driveshaft in rear
- Lincoln Towncar wheels (that counts right?)

My Fit is almost all original at 62k miles. Tires, driver's door armrest, voluntary LED lights, and of course wipers and oil and filters.
Oh, and an upgraded rear sway bar.
My 96 Civic, traded in last year.
exhaust midpipe (rusted)
catalytic converter (cracked) O2 sensor for good measure.
welded but still original muffler
radiator (leaked)
clutch master cylinder (leaked)
front axles (CV boots)
HVAC fan speed control (quit except for speed 2)
thermostat
tires, tires, tires
brake rotors once and pads twice
timing belt
spark plugs
polished the headlights
bulbs
Not too bad for 200,000 miles and 17 years.

The Sentra at 22 years, front struts, rears soon, tires, brakes, radiator (previous owner), upper and lower hoses, belts look fresh, Left front axle boot is split, could be original, not sure. Plugs and several cans of techron. Wiper blades, rarely used, thermostat. I know the windshield has been replaced, front end parts are probably original at 181k miles.
22 years ,never a timing belt or valve adjustment, not required, I could get it painted, but if I did it would probably blow up something expensive thanking me.
regards
mech
