They extended about a foot, which is long enough to make a connection below the center console. I had to re-wire the clutch switch to move it from the dash to the console.
Couple of things to help when you get yours:
#1 - Wiring it was a biatch, but well worth it of course! I loosened the console, pulled off the old shifter (after removing the regen & kill switches from it), and fed the wires from the new shift knob down through the shroud. Then I had to slowly turn the shift knob onto the shaft and keep turning the wires, which wanted to curl around the shaft the whole time. After I got the shift knob on tight, I had to hold up the console while making the connections to the three buttons. After a test drive which told me I had the regen and clutch switches reversed (even after labelling them!) I had it all together.
#2 - In retrospect, if I was gonna have Daox make me another one, I would rotate the buttons clockwise so the thumb button is more toward the front. It triggers really easily, and I have hit it a hundred times and felt the car lurch. My fix was to turn the whole shift knob about 30 degrees clockwise so I'm not constantly hitting the kill switch by mistake. I'd see if he can revise his shifter before he makes yours, you'll thank me!
All he needs to do is rotate the logo about thirty degrees counter clockwise from where he has it now and all will be good!
Daox - If you read this, PM me what you'd charge me for the top half of the shift knob rotated 30 degrees counter clockwise, and I'll drop some money in your paypal account! Love the thing other than my stupid thumb hitting the kill switch all the time!
