I have seen gas work fine after almost a year, but it was in a totalled car with a sealed fuel system. If you keep the oxygen and moisture out of the container then the fuel will last a long time.
My VX was off the road from 1996 to 2008, but that was pure gas, without ethanol, and it ran OK until I got to a gas station.
I take old gas a pour it into the wifes car when the tank is close to full and have never had any problem with it.
