I put the plan into action today. Ended up paying 4.1cents/mi and $1.70/gal and saved about $15. I bought Shell gas, although it's a bit pricier, because it ought to be high quality if I'm stuck with it for the next 6 weeks.

I'll check back in around mid-May when I have to stop at a gas station again. If fuel prices go up, I'm gonna look like a genius.
