Then there's the kid who bought a mid size sedan with a 4 cylinder at a used car lot. He drove it straight to me to price out a CAI. I just stared at him until he started fidgeting. I told him the factory didn't make one then took him outside, popped the hood and showed him the perfectly good duct going straight from the grille to the air box and asked him to explain just how much colder the air from any other sort of intake would be. He hadn't looked under his hood before, he just knew that CAI= more power.
Or the V8 owners who actually have half a brain and ask if the CAI install includes a tune. Then I have to explan factory warrantees and emissions & mileage requirements and that they're not going to get a dealership to play that game for them. But if they want us to bolt on a shiny $700 tube to the air box, we will.
Good modifications and modifiers exist, but typical ones are idiots.
