IMO Ford is behind the times. They are working to catch up, and they are not doing a horrible job. I've talked to a few people (including Ford service employees) that say they have vastly increased the quality of their vehicles which was always my #1 complaint. Their TV commercials even state that their quality matches Toyota now. Its not that I completely believe it, but its a bold statement to make, and admits they used to make sub-par vehicles (no offense to Ford owners). Fuel economy is now being addressed. The new Focus is already right up there with Civic/Corolla's economy. The Fusion is slightly lower than Accord/Camry, but not by that much (2 mpg combined). They just need a good sub-compact and a hybrid or something else that gets great economy. The Fiesta will hopefully address one of these issues, if they don't stick a huge engine in it.
