Growing up in Southern California,there was a cultural imperative to cruise Van Nuys Boulevard on Wednesday nights.I can't tell you how many lowriders,with hydraulic suspension could be seen on a single night.
They could park a car,lower it down to the frame rails,and suck the wheels up into the wells so they couldn't be stolen.
Also,some of the lowrider 'trash' had sleeper race cars which attracted the attention of unsuspecting young white males who thought their rides superior.
Impromptu drag races were held on back boulevards.Cars raced each other for 'pink slips',and many a fool lost title to his pride and joy right then and there.
