I think you might need the ECU as well as the Electric Load Detector unit (ELD). Daox is probably correct that it is a bit more complex. There are several wires into the alt... a 4 or 5 pin connector, IIRC. In fact, even with my switch, once I turn the alt on, putting the switch back into off does not shut the alt down, inly cutting the engine will do that. Works well enough.
