[Edit] Bluefoot is right, that vehicle is called the Rally Fighter.
The second guy did not like the printers on the market, so he built one that made objects up to 24"x24"x24" for $300.
The third guy discussed ramanPi, the DIY 3D Printable Raspberry Raman Spectrometer.
He said they used it for cancer research, identifying bacteria, and scanning under his wife's fingernails to track medical conditions. Had it been ready earlier, they were people who wanted to send it to fight Ebola. They say you can make one like it for about a thousand dollars, but could possibly make one for $350.
Then there is a lady named Laura Royal that works in the Red Mountain branch of the Mesa Public Library, which has a Think Space, with a Maker Space, which has a Makerbot Replicator 2, where they only charge for materials, and have free workshops. She said they were looking for people to teach how to use free programs. She said you need a Mesa Public Library card to print. She played a video with some intense loud music. They do not actually play that at the library, right? If you cannot find quiet at the library, what hope is there in this world?!
The last guy printed a model of a Toyota engine and transmission, thanks to a mechanical engineer who runs a pool cleaning company, disassembled his truck engine, and reverse-engineered it. He printed the parts and made his own springs out of mig wire. He talked about onshape.com, saying that it is like Google Documents for CAD. He says you are supposed to use an iPad4, but he has used an iPad2 without a problem. He says that it is awesome for collaboration, he can just sent the file to whoever makes the parts he designed and they do not need to ask any questions. The student who designed the Rally Fighter was offered a job at GM. Someone involved in another project was offered a job at Ford, but refused to sign the contract until he completed the project. He explained a material he printed called Ninjaflex. Their goal is to to have 3D-printable 50-state-street-legal car in two years. Their printer does projects up to 4'x6'.

Reason: Typed during the meetup on my phone. Also, I did not see Bluefoot's post.
