My car automatically does this with DFCO. There is engine braking of course, but with an injector switch overriding the ECU's DFCO, it would be possible to floor it and do away with the rapid deceleration.
My only hesitation is having to keep using the ignition to crank back up. I can't bumpstart with the auto
