I compared "automatic to automatic" transmission in the above picture. I didn't pick the Civic HX because that's a "special" drivetrain.

Curb weights are almost equal :

1996-2000 Honda Civic Full Review - Consumer Guide Automotive
1998 Honda Civic Curb Weight = 2262 lbs.

Toyota Yaris Road Test
2007 Toyota Yaris 2 Door Liftback Curb Weight = 2293 lbs.
They're about dead even. This makes sense to me because of the heavier cars we have these days.
