I've thought of myself as a conservationist, more than a restorer, over the years. Slowing the inevitable so others (with more resources) can benefit. More lately it looks like the next to go will be the Clark Cortez motor home, hopefully up the valley where it will be parted out, the appliances to a new 'tiny home' and the drivetrain subframe preserved as a [trailerable] unit plus 100s of dollars in cash.
Years past there was a VW-only wrecking yard in Rickreall, OR until Polk County announced he had to turn over the content of his yard every 6 months. That wasn't a viable model and it's gone.
