A bit late but:
Google "arduino 2004 lcd" (4 lines, 20 characters) or "1602" (16x2). If you want to save pins on the arduino look for the I2C version. The one I bought originally came with a separate I2C converter that I never managed to get working.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped at Microcenter and found out that they sell this kind of stuff as well. They had the same brand (sainsmart) but with the I2C module already attached (and presumably tested) for just a couple bucks more than buying it from an online store in China.
