Has anyone mentioned ignition? Points-and-condenser are only in tune when they are set and then they begin to drift out. A drop-in replacement like the Perlux Ignitor helps. The Magna-Spark distributor I have is for four cylinders but uses a Ford cap and rotor. It is available in 3 or 4 levels, from a 'stock' red coil, to MSD compatible, to fully digital without a rotor.
So that's like five or six possible levels, and there are ignitions that use a coil for every 2 cylinders.

I plan on using a duraspark II factory ford electronic ignition, for reliability simplicity, performance, and economy.
