Video: prototype Ford F-150 plug-in hybrid - 41 mpg

According to ABG, the claim is 41 mpg over the first 30 miles, presumably while the vehicle is in "charge depletion" mode - ie. using up the energy from the grid. It's not clear if the mpg calculation includes electrical energy consumption.

- up to 15 miles EV mode range

- up to 41 mpg mixed speed driving for the first 30 miles/day

- up to 21 mpg in hybrid mode after the 30 mile all electric range

Aside from the motor hanging down low behind the diff (watch those parking berms!), the biggest drawback of course is the price. $60k per conversion (you supply the truck).
