Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I feel like gas prices will be whatever the powers at be want them to be, to make money. Every excuse they have to raise prices, they will use. It's just a big game, and everyone who plays loses except for the guys holding all the cards. Hypermiling just helps you lose a little bit less, that's all.
