They all look the same until you see the frame. On a half ton the frame fits up under the body pretty well and you don't see very much of it. On a 1 ton the frame hangs down about 4 inches and the rear leave springs are more than twice as thick.
Then you have the whole semi float versus full floating rear axle thing.
I see all kinds of dumb 5th wheel combinations around here.
Just the other day I saw a 5 lug light duty single axle under a 5x10 foot utility deck being dragged behind a 5th wheel on a half ton.
It was nothing that couldn't be handled by a bumper pull trailer.
At that point all you are doing is wasting money so you can pull around 200 to 300 pounds of goose neck structure that you don't need. Whats the point?
