What I meant is a half mile or more before a stop sign, I start engine on coasting in neutral. Coasting for this length of time gives me enough of a mpg boost to counteract the losses of having to get back up to speed. For the ZX2, it is 42 mph until I have lock up in top gear, and then my mpgs can go back to around 60 cruising.
This is the way I handle my routes that have stop signs every so often
