These are in a legal "gray area," as far as I can tell. If you read the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards code, section 108, there are all sorts of testing requirements and certifications for headlamps. These projectors, having been pulled straight out of a production vehicle in the US market, meet those criteria, and the code doesn't say anything about swapping approved headlight components between housings. Running more than 4 light sources in the headlamps is illegal as well, but I'll only have 4 projectors in there total, so I can get by there on a technicality.

Just ordered another set of LED low beams, the trapezoidal Corolla projectors. I think they'll fit nicely in the high beam reflector area. They're the same Koito assembly and 11W chip as the Murano projectors; this will give me 22W per headlight with both on, slightly more than I'm running now but much less than the stock 55W, and should have output comparable to 55W HID bulbs.
