The comparisons are entertaining. I don't care one way or the other about Elio but I have a tendency to not un-subscribe to threads (comes from when arragonis would urge people to unsubscribe to a particular thread, sometimes repeatedly) so I'm sort of trapped in purgatory here.
Can we let it die?
OTOH the topic puts me in mind of the kabinenrollers of the 1950s. Apparently they're a reasonable response to an economy that's in the toilet. If the present economy were headed that way (not wishing anything on anybody) that might tip the scale.
