As tires rotate, they squirm a little bit. That's because the cords pantograph through the footprint. That little bit of movement is like your hand laid flat on beach sand, then wiggling it - the hand sinks into the sand.
On concrete, there is mostly rubber bits rubbed off, but on asphalt, the stone particles are pushed deeper into the binder. Ever notice ruts in asphalt? The road is moving!
