I'm having trouble with finding a simple percentage for the difference in area between a square and it's inscribed circle. From memory it is 78%. Your cross-section will be more squircular that circular so it will be somewhere north of 80%. I split the difference.
I think that he comparison was between Toyota's naked T-100 at the tailgate,which has very little vertical side body camber,essentially a rectangle.
The rear transom of Dark Aero has no side vertical camber whatsoever,so it's a rectangle as well.
We're not discussing the area of transverse cross-section profile of the bedcover,with it's angles.
