What is the background of the multiplier of 0.89?

- A guesstimate pulled from a dark nether region.
- A challenge to prove me wrong.
I'm having trouble with finding a simple percentage for the difference in area between a square and it's inscribed circle. From memory it is 78%. Your cross-section will be more squircular that circular so it will be somewhere north of 80%. I split the difference.

I think that he comparison was between Toyota's naked T-100 at the tailgate, which has very little vertical side body camber, essentially a rectangle.
The rear transom of Dark Aero has no side vertical camber whatsoever,so it's a rectangle as well.
We're not discussing the area of transverse cross-section profile of the bedcover, with it's angles.

BZP can clarify of course; I thought he'd worked out the trailer/tailgate ratio and was moving on to the max cross-section.
Nevermind.

Since the truck and Dark Aero really doesn't match up with the template exactly, I was trying to determine the approximate ratio in comparison to the template based on the current setup. A 70% reduction compared to 80% of the template at the same length is pretty close fer me with the current setup. Fer anyone else following down the same path, they can git an idea of what my data numbers represent.

i think, for what you have accomplished, you are close enough to the template that it probably not be measurable with any other arrangement.

The nice thing about today is that we can share. Anything that isn't a half-circular section is a compromise with The Template in any case.
Compromise with perfection being the name of the game.

I was having a little fun today on the streets of Wichita. With the frozen icy streets along with some slushy snow build up, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the swivel wheel tire riding in the center of the lane (which was filled with snow and ice) and splashing the stuff outwards like a boat rudder in water. I did find a big parking lot to do more donuts.
Lot of curious folks did their best to try to comprehend what they were seeing but I don't think any of them truly understood it. I've got the rest of the week to have more fun in the elements before I head back South. I even intrigued a few of Wichita's finest. I hope their medical covers whiplash.
I finally picked up a floor air pump so I can quickly fill up the air bag spring instead of the long process to hook up the 12V pump to air up. It only took 3 pumps from the bike pump to git to 40PSI from 20PSI.
