Noma heavy duty timer with two outlets, I bought them at Canadian Tire 2 years ago. I had to buy 4 to get 2 that worked right so quality control on the display was bad. At least the return policy is good there, no problems. Once you get a good one they seem to take a beating though.

No batteries to install, these charged off the wall for a few minutes, then you can unplug and program them to your liking. So there's a rechargeable battery in there somewhere. 20 different program slots.

The one in the trunk doesn't see much stress but the one in front of the radiator and behind the bumper sure does. Even with the grille block 'protecting' it from the elements. Working great so far.
