couple of possible problems:
1.the velco is the glue softens up with the heat of the sun on the dash during the summer time.
2. second, there is a sharp contrast to your eyes. your looking out your windshield (biright), then trying to adjust your eyes to the scangauge which is sitting at the line between bright windshield and dark dash.
your eyes take to long to adjust and will:
1. hinder your driving,
2. make you stop referring to the scangauge.
In the thread that I linked from 2011, I discuss the need to "shield" the scangauge. and also to keep it below the LINE between light and dark, not on the edge of it.
