There was/is a company that claimed/claims they could do that. They were called EEstor I think and their capacitor they called it an EESU. But after years of broken promises and secrecy I think most everyone has lost faith in them feeling that perhaps they are just an investment sucking hoax.

I'd like to see capacitor technology catch up with battery technology storagewise too. It seems like I heard that in China they made some capacitor driven buses that charge at each bus stop. But if they miss just one bus stop then they run out of juice.

But for now it looks like we're limited to replacing ICE car batteries. But just imagine one of these days a 300 mile range Tesla that charges in 5 minutes.
