It's so I can leave the windows cracked a couple of inches during the day.
Let's say you lived in a place where it's blazing hot about 11 months out of the year, but rains practically daily. And that you drove a car with a great big expensive battery in the back that's super sensitive to heat, and you unavoidably parked the car outside in that heat all day at work. I imagine you'd do what you could to avoid killing it, right?
I also use an insulated sun shade in the front windshield, a towel over the leather seats, another giant sunshade in the rear
