I honestly don't think anyone has pushed the limits of what the Insight is capable of with driver technique. Last year Mloveland broke 100mpg in a Civic VX. I will say as a disclaimer that this year the entire field went for 45mph laps which adjusted everyones mpg downward.
This is an example of the baseline for an Insight:
When I drove my
non leanburn CVT Insight last year, i was doing laps averaging 41mph at a consistent 81 (+/-1) mpg. This is with the engine always on and in gear. My final score was 75.32 mpg with the hill climb included.
