I drive for fuel economy, nearly all the time. Currently driving a 2000 Insight which gets me about 20-40% higher mpg than a Prius. But that's beside the point.
If other drivers care about fuel economy they could make an effort. Obviously, from their oversize sedans, fuel-burning sporty acceleration machines, large capacity pickups and SUVs occupied by a single person, and fuel-wasting 4WDs that do no better in winter than my FWD car with its winter tires, those drivers have fuel economy as a very low priority. I certainly will rarely speed up to accommodate them.
