Reverse alligator; else 4-bar up and forward; else attach with Buick/International Harvester hood hinges so the whole thing lifts off to expose the original hood.

A sheet of polycarbonate would curl into a conic section. You choose the curvatures at the top and bottom, the sides are straight but can still be cut into a curve.
