roof shingle for air damn?

Greetings,

I had to replace a few shingles on my roof. I only needed like 2 of them, but they come in 50 packs. Anyway, I was thinking of using some to make an air dam. They are about 1/4 inch thick, and they are waterproof. I would attach them with screw and/or pop rivets.

Each one is about 12 inches wide and 3 feet long. I was thinking of cutting one in half length wise and attaching them end to end, with another half cut riveted to the back side to help hold them together.

Any thoughts on using these for an air dam, front lip, and/or tire spat?
