It's oil change season soon.

I wonder what I should put in the engine (We have cold winters here)

10w-40
5w30 C2
10W60
5w40 C3

Something else for lower FE

In mind, the engine design is from the 70's with solid tappets/buckets. And EURO 3 emissions.

The gearbox accepts anything API GL-4 (GL-5 is too slippery for the syncros and corrodes the copper in the syncros)

or should I try ATF in the gearbox? Will the diff complain?

Now I have GL-4 Mineral in the box.

when VAZ released the Samara (Same gearbox) they just recommended standard motor 10w-40 oil for the gearbox so it's not very picky .
