I'd take my AR every day over my 7-08 for tent or camper duty, and I'd take the 9mm Glock I practice/shoot the most with over a 5-6 shot 44 that is difficult to shoot well/expensive to pratice = no pratice, the Glock is easier to carry and shoot well, easy to carry = more likely to carry = its there when you need it. If I lived in a area where it was a concern a 10mm glock/1911 would be my choice for carry, AR for camping tent duty, but maybe 6.8 or 300 instead of 5.56.
