I think that's fair, but notice you start with Tesla being safe, and then merge that to general EVs being lower cost per mile. You don't get both there. A Tesla isn't even close to being low cost to operate no matter how you slice it, and something that is a great deal like a Leaf I would say has below average safety. A better mix of both safety and low operating cost is going to come from something like a used Camry.
