Well, as with gas vs EV, the issue isn't the money, it's the waste going into landfills. Frankly, I can't see buying non-rechargable batteries.

It's possible that they have passive RFID plus active components like remote unlocking that require a battery - another thing I just don't understand the why of. The Insight has remote unlocking, but I've never used it in the dozen years I've owned it, and am not even sure I could find the remode doohicky any more.
