I have to say that I stand on the shoulders of giants, a lot of what I post and say has been said before. I try to give as much useful info when I conduct experiments and troubleshoot, Darin has shown how it is to be done

If you feel the need to move into a Civic Hybrid, I can tell you my mileage starts at about what you've worked up to in your Escort. Apply some of your tricks to an HCH and God knows what you can achieve. Probably better than I'm doing. And first-gen HCHs are getting pretty cheap, so that's a plus too.

Crazy ain't even the word for it! Things are improving, which is my focus from day to day
I got screwed out of a 2003 HCH manual that was in great shape and only $1600 by the bank
I needed a lil bit to help me and they sounded promising, then said they could not help me at all a few days later. Grr!
There are more around Southern MO though. I want to buy one through an individual because it would cost less, but I could get financing through a delearship and pay A LOT more. I'm not giving up by no means!
Based on how others have got mpg wise, I'm fairly certain I could break 60 mpg with a CVT and 70+ mpg with a manual, with modest mods and technique. Easily over 100 mpg on certain trips, which I never could do with my ZX2 (high of 89.6)
