I bought my car well under book and I would expect book retail value, it was my hard work and shopping patience that got the deal. I spent 6 weeks looking for a car like the saturn, I expect to be compensated.

That's a good point. In 1987-ish, I got a "second Karmann Ghia" after I totaled my Dad's. It lasted maybe 2 months before the engine caught fire and it melted by the side of the road. I told the insurance company what I paid, and they just reimbursed me that amount, no questions asked. The car was NOT worth what I paid for it, but I think that because it was a recent purchase, the "amount paid" was the only thing that counted.
