G'day Fingie, I have got a 2004 Smart first generation forfour and it has been a very good car to me for the last 2.5 years and 27000km,and it does 19.5kml, as you said it is Mitsubishi colt based car.
Mine is a 1.5 liter, but they were also available in 1liter 1.1 and 1.3 liter.
As far as i know the 1 liter and 1.1 liter are 3 cylinder Mercedes Benz engines developed by Mitsubishi build in France, put in Smart cars in the Netherlands..........lol.
