The issue is not can the vehicle move the load but can the it control and stop the load. I'm glad that you are at least keeping the weight forward on the trailer, but what are you doing to help it stop?

fwiw. Several years ago (three, I think), while riding a shuttle between Gatwick and Heathrow I saw a Smart for 4 in a lot alongside the rode. It was a 4 door. Wish I had taken a picture. Must have been a prototype or custom build.

They are in production. I have seen a few here.

older forfour is Mitsubishi-based, and wasn't related to fortwo. THIS is the forfour I wanted

G'day Fingie, I have got a 2004 Smart first generation forfour and it has been a very good car to me for the last 2.5 years and 27000km,and it does 19.5kml, as you said it is Mitsubishi colt based car.
Mine is a 1.5 liter, but they were also available in 1liter 1.1 and 1.3 liter.
As far as i know the 1 liter and 1.1 liter are 3 cylinder Mercedes Benz engines developed by Mitsubishi build in France, put in Smart cars in the Netherlands..........lol.
Greetings,
Eddie.

I am sure Ptero pulling a small trailer conscientiously with a modern small car is much more dangerous to other drivers than half of the normal drivers that seem to be 90mph zombies that otherwise inhabit the highway.

I bet he's more dangerous than the model t club that drives by here twice a year, many of which are equipped with an old trailer in tow as well

Disk brakes all around but none on the trailer. Never had a brake fade down any grade.
Haven't had much reason to haul more than 1000 lbs so I haven't missed trailer brakes.
Not a legal requirement until you exceed 2000 lbs, but like I said, 1000 is my self-imposed limit: 2000 pound car / 1000 pound trailer.
Used to drive 34-wheel, 120,000 lb, 105-foot crude oil supertrains over mountains with finger brake controls for the semi trailer and pup. That was occasionally useful. Way more dangerous than towing a trailer with a smart car. Don't tell the Aussie.
