Motorcycles are seen there more as a recreational product than as a serious commuter. I bet it's way harder to find back there a household where motorcycles below 250cc are the primary (and eventually the only) vehicle available, while in the third-world it's not uncommon. Depending on the region, they actually outnumber cars by a good margin.
