Don't blow yourself up. The engineering on these things is pretty rigorous.

I'm not saying you're not smart enough to do it right, I'm saying there's lots of really smart people who've already sweated the details and put their reputations on the line that their product will do the job you're describing. Sure it's a lot more expensive, but if your homebrew one goes pop and blows your foot off, the store-bought one starts to look pretty cheap.
