It may make a difference in the rain, as the droplets will roll off instead of creating a film that ripples etc.

Waxed my father-in-laws pink Suzuki Ignis the other day. Well pink except for the newish bumper, front quarter panels and driver door which are red, its original color.
The hood took 3 times as much as the remaining 3 doors, roof, rear quarter panels and hatch combined! But at long last all is red and shiny.

People came walking by and told me they had a car as well that I could wax if I liked.
I told them the owner of the car I was working on gave me the hand of his daughter, were they able and willing to better that?
