IDI handles the glycerin content better than direct injection does, leading to fewer residues of incomplete combustion that could eventually accumulate inside the engine, and actually becomes more fuel-efficient running on vegetable oils. Waste motor oil, on the other hand, has the downside of being blended with additives that increase its flashing point, which leads to more difficult vaporising and ignition.
