Thanks, guys.

Have I said this yet:

I reeeeally like driving this car -- even as sedately as I have been. (Curves excepted... drive without brakes!)

The short throw stubby shifter is a treat to use (just wishing for a taller 5th), the burbly exhaust note is amusing, the steering & handling is playful. But the top-down part is the highlight. I enjoy a given trip more with the wide-open sky above. I like it more than when I had a motorcycle (because helmet, I guess).

The last convertible I had was a worn-out Rabbit I fixed up when I was going to school. 1982 model? I forget. For some reason, I don't remember enjoying the open air as much as now.

Lately I've been switching back and forth between the MPGiata and the 2000 Metro, while getting it ready for winter duty. The Metro is almost depressing to drive by comparison: it's loud in all the wrong ways, the steering is slow & numb, the shifter is sloppy, so is the handling, plus the front end rattles. And in its un-modded state, the MPG isn't a whole lot better than the Miata's!
